A data center PDU is a power distribution unit designed for the data center market. The specification of your PDUs will have a direct influence on reliability, flexibility and scalability of your data center. And there are different types of data center PDUs, depending on the features and benefits that they bring.   It could be a Basic unit with no network connectivity, a Metered PDU with a built-in power display, a Smart PDU with built in monitoring and intelligence, or a Switched PDU with command and control functionality.

 


It depends on a set of very basic questions.
• Do you have single-phase or three-phase power?
• Do you want a horizontal or vertical rack PDU amount?
• What are your approximate amperage and voltage requirements?
• What cord length and plug type are required, based on your region?

Basic PDUs:
A basic PDU includes a power strip with a pre-selected number of power outlets. It can also include surge suppression to protect critical equipment during anomalous voltage spike. It also provides locking, color-coded receptacles to minimize the risk of accidentally unplugging equipment and to improve cord organization. As there is no internet connectivity or graphical user interface ,this is ideal option for smaller server rooms.
Like our common type PDU with 1U or 1.5U profiles can be produced according to customer's requirements for vertical or horizontal installation.
Metered PDUs:
The former tracks power consumption through a local GUI that displays key power utilization metrics (current, amperage, power factor etc.) Best in class metered PDUs are typically constructed with hot-swappable intelligence ports, which means that they can be upgraded without downtime to enable remote power monitoring if necessary. We recommend metered PDUs for use in highly secure data center environments that must keep power infrastructure air-gapped from local network or for facilities that foresee an eventual need for remote monitoring.

Monitored PDUs:
Monitored PDUs remotely transmit real-time power consumption metrics-down to the outlet to a secure web interface so facility staff can monitor critical power utilization metrics in real time, regardless of their location. High quality monitored PDUs also have Ethernet ports. An entire series can be connected to the network through a single switch port and still maintain fault tolerance. Monitored PDUs are highly recommended for high density data centers and for cloud vendors that need to support fluctuating power loads without compromising energy efficient or durability.

Switched PDUs:

Definition of High Temperature Battery:
High temperature Lead acid battery refers to batteries which are capable to charge continuously at 35°C or above and the operating temperature range is -40°C to +80°C whereas usually the ordinary lead acid battery’s operating temperature range -20°C to +45°C.

 

High Temperature Battery Design

High Temperature batteries have been designed for countries where temperature is extreme to tolerate (like Middle East , Asian, African countries) and perform simultaneously.  These batteries are suitable for Telecommunication, Uninterruptible power supply, Switchgear, Solar/ Photovoltaic, Data Center, Broadband or many more where temperature is the main reason of damaging batteries frequently.
The High Temperature Battery adopts
-Corrosion resistant battery plate to reduce grid corrosion and charge current density,
-nano carbon to improve durability,
-special positive additive α-PbO₂ to improve the  grid strength,
-optimized valve to tolerate the internal pressure in high temperature,
-reinforced special high temperature resistant ABS container and cover to ensure stable performance.

•12 months storage life @20°C~25°C;
•Double floating life more than traditional VRLA battery @35°C;
•Greatly reduce operational cost (more than 60% less cooling consumption);

Market Demand:
There is always a great market demand of high temperature batteries because in hot summer many applications temperature raises up to 75°C. High temperatures cannot always be avoided. As a guideline, each 10°C rise in temperature cuts the life of a sealed lead acid battery in half. Therefore, high temperature batteries are designed and developed to sustain up to 80°C.
